Last February I wrote about finding a family tree online connecting me to some very cool people - George Washington, Diana Spencer, Winston Churchill and a few others. I wasn't very concerned about sources because I figured if someone worked that hard to create this family tree it must be true. Besides, if you include sources someone can question them - no sources equals no questions, right? While my family just yawned when I told them, I got all pumped up about this information and felt I became an important guy because of it.
Now, after reading this article written by Sharon Tate Moody of the Tampa Tribune, I'm completely deflated. A reader of hers found a family tree on Ancestry.com not only going back farther than the one I found, but also had some cooler people on it than mine did. I wish I can somehow connect my family to this tree because look at who is included: Jesus, Joseph of Arimathea, and The Blessed Bran who appears to be the son of a Celtic god or something. Imagine being related to both Jesus and a Celtic god at the same time...boy, this is a world changing connection. This Bran character is also thought to somehow be related to King Arthur of roundtable fame. But the tree doesn't stop here, there is Boadicea, Queen of a Celtic tribe in Britain who married King Prasutugu the son of Bran. There is also Helen de la Croix and her son Constantine...you know, the Roman Emperor...the one who brought Christianity out of the shadows.
I haven't actually seen this family tree on Ancestry, but from the article it looks like there are many other famous kings, queens and maybe even gods involved. Since there are no sources cited, maybe I can somehow connect my family to this one...being related to a Celtic god would be a good conversation starter.
