NFL's Oldest Former Player Dies at 104

The Associated Press is reporting that Sam Dana, the NFL's oldest former player, died Monday at the age of 104.  Dana came into the leage in 1926 with the Hartford Blues and later played one season with the New York Yankees (yes, there was an NFL team with that name).  From what I can tell, his season with the Yankees was his final in the NFL.  Another of his claims to fame is he played football at Columbia University with the legendary New York Yankee (baseball) great Lou Gehrig.  This link takes you to a team photo showing both Dana and Gehrig.  Dana lived in Buffalo, New York and was a big Bills fan watching them every week during the season up until he died.  Here's another link to photos and a story where he celebrated his 100th birthday in 2003.
